Explore your Curiosity at Maker Faire Cleveland

On Saturday, November 2, the Library will host a FREE hands-on event featuring cutting edge technology at a cool new location

OCTOBER 3, 2019 (CLEVELAND, OH) — Tap into your creative side, explore your curiosity and get inspired at the 7th annual Maker Faire Cleveland. The Cleveland Public Library is hosting the FREE family-friendly event on Saturday, November 2 from

10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Great Lakes Science Center. This year's event is bigger and better than ever. Thanks to a new partnership with the Great Lakes Science Center, Maker Faire is no longer mini. It's taking over the science center with a full day of games, experiments, projects and FUN!

Maker Faire celebrates innovation and provides hands-on, interactive fun of all ages. From engineers to artists to scientists and crafters, "Makers" will show off their gadgets and mind-blowing inventions. "Maker Faire Cleveland brings together some of the best inventors and thinkers from all over the country. Every year, the event gets bigger and better and we invite everyone to attend this event and find inspiration,"says Felton Thomas, Jr., Executive Director of Cleveland Public Library. "

Highlights at this year's Maker Faire Cleveland include fire, explosives, bowling and slime. Participants will feel the heat during Larchmere Fire Works' interactive hot glass demo. That's 2200º of beauty. For gamers, there's BOMBFEST, a video game about sumo wrestlings with explosives. Try your hand at Skeeball and bowling in one great game called SkeeBowling when it rolls into the Science Center with 10 lb bowling balls. And, who doesn't love slime? Get dirty and learn how to make and decorate slime.

The Cleveland Public Library is bringing TechCentral to the Science Center. Our display will allow visitors' minds to run wild as they design and build using LEGO blocks and K-Nex sets in our ConstructionCentral. Our MakerSpace will also put your competitiveness and teamwork on display with our giant Obelisk Board game.  "...quote from TechCentral here"

Additionally, the NASA Glenn Research Center will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo moon landing with its interactive exhibit which explores the skills needed to blast off to outer space. Visitors can also enjoy workshops and additional offerings at this year's event including drones, robots, 3D instruments and more.

Registration is required for this FREE event. For registration and a full list of activities, visit https://cleveland.makerfaire.com
